In August 2017 St. Peter's UCC decided to make the $5000 investment in their Associate Minister Becca Lockwood's participation as a Bethany Fellow. As Becca said, "St. Peter's has committed to paying the full scholarship - knowing that while I'm immediately benefitting it's a commitement to new clergy, the wider church, and the work Bethany Fellows is doing."

Congregations who nurture young pastors form a ministry bond with  Bethany Fellows and Leaders as they realize their church will significanlty be a beneficiary of this ministry. Many of our incoming Fellows receive scholarships from their congregations, some receiving the full investment of $5000 per year.  Others are receiving 1/2 scholarships. And an increasing number of congregations include Bethany Fellows in their Outreach budgets or offer special occasion gifts. All scholarships and other contributions are greatly appreciated. 

Grateful pastors do not easily forget the coaching/mentoring that helped “save their souls,” and find amazingly creative ways to express their gratitude. Many support Bethany financially and encourage their congregations to consider gifts as well.
